The History Of The Corner House Hotel

Built in the 1840's as Cansfield House, the property was originally to be the local Bishop's House. He never moved in and the property became a private residence until in the mid 1900's, with the property eventually becoming a hotel in the 1950's.

The current owners, the Hiscox family purchased the hotel in 1999 when it was a 28 bedroom commercial hotel. The Corner House Hotel is a part of the Hatton Collection of hotels and inns with associated properties in the Cotswolds and The Channel Islands. The hotel was fully refurbished throughout in 2003 and extended to 44 bedrooms in 2005. The restaurant was refurbished and re-opened as the Taunton Wine & Sausage in October 2009
